Christina Alex has gained expertise in domestic violence prevention through almost a decade working in New York City government, community and healthcare programs. During her four years at the NYC Mayors Office to Combat Domestic Violence, she played the lead role in designing and overseeing a successful peer-led dating violence prevention program for at-risk teenagers. She has always believed prevention needs to start in middle school, a wish fulfilled by her current position directing this Robert Wood Johnson Start Strong Bronx initiative.
Evelyn Alvarez has worked with young people as an afterschool program director, mentor, and trainer. She has led workshops on financial literacy, self-esteem, and pregnancy. Evelyn has a long history of supporting and developing programs meant to promote the growth of young people and their families. She is excited to be joining this initiative and empowering youth to make choices that will enhance their lives.
Alexandra Smith has run over 500 workshops and support groups focusing on domestic violence awareness and building healthy relationship skills at Jewish Board of Family and Childrens Services and in her own private practice. She is passionate about teaching parents, doctors and service providers how domestic violence affects childrens brain development, and thrilled to be a part of a movement that focuses on healthy choices that will enhance the future of youth in the Bronx.
