Wear your jeans on DENIM DAY 2011
On APRIL 27, 2011, Start Strong Bronx and the NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault will participate in Denim Day NYC because safe supportive relationships are a human right. The theme of this year’s Denim Day NYC is:
Partnering with Young Men to Build Healthy Relationships.
We invite youth organizations and schools throughout the city to join us in planning a Denim Day NYC activity, ranging from a moment of silence to reading and discussing the Dating Bill of Rights to hosting a workshop or planning a poetry slam.

In collaboration with Start Strong Bronx, the students at DreamYard Prep H.S have created a play celebrating the important role that males play in building positive relationships and preventing sexual and dating violence. They have performed at middle schools in the Bronx this month. The NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault is offering workshops for youth organizations and Lunch & Learn lectures for corporations. Sanctuary for Families and Violence Intervention Program are also offering workshops.
Everyone deserves a relationship with these building blocks:
Respect, Equality, Honesty, Communication, Trust, Support, and Happiness.
On April 20, 2010, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and representatives from the offices of City Councilwoman Annabel Palma and Speaker Christine Quinn joined Start Strong Bronx to launch the first ever Denim Day in NYC.
